MACT Data Management Solutions
B3 Systems has been managing compliance data for
over ten years. Over the years we have continuously improved our system
to meet the changing demands placed on our client’s by regulatory
issues as well as operational requirements. Most recently we have
allowed our client’s to meet their MACT demands with a simple modular
approach. For years we have been computing 12-hour rolling averages,
3-hour rolling averages, validating one minute averages and generating
reports based on system startup, shutdown, and malfunctions under the
BIF Rule, Medical Waste Combustion MACT and for
baghouse monitoring compliance under numerous
MACT rules (e.g., fiberglass, wool fiberglass). We can also provide a Total Service Package (TSP).
Our system utilizes a modular approach to maximize
the real-time power of your control system without burdening it with
excessive QA and computational demands. We have successfully utilized a
stand-alone CPU to provide process data interface and real-time
compliance computing power.
This CPU maintains a buffer of information and is in constant
communication with a TOGA GladiatorÔ
(www.toga-us.com). The Gladiator
utilizes Patent Pending technology within a Unix operating system
combined with a powerful SQL database to maintain long-term data
storage on a real-time basis. The Gladiator also utilizes an Apache Web
Server to serve up ‘live’ information, historical charts and reports
through the facility’s in-house network via custom designed HTML pages.
The Gladiator utilizes non-proprietary software (HTML, javascript and
php) to provide information to authorized users.
The Gladiator’s full web serving capability is
supplemented with the additional feature of remote notification of user
defined events via:
·
e-mail
·
pager
·
cell phone
·
etc.
Security within the Unix environment allows for
multiple levels of security as well as complete blockage based upon
your corporate security policies.
Routine data backup to a PC within the facility is
conducted on a regular basis. This redundancy provides additional
security that critical data is safe and secure. Additionally, B3
Systems can provide remote backup to a secure data server for maximum
data security and redundancy.
Reporting at this time is provided through a
Microsoft Access interface. This allows interface allows clients to
create custom reports at a later time if special conditions arise.
B3 Systems can provide remote diagnostic assistance
via the remote access capability of the Gladiator box. This feature
alone has saved our client’s time and money by allowing B3 Systems’
trained personnel to remotely diagnose problems more efficiently. The
only down side is that the airlines miss us deeply.
B3 Systems offers the traditional capital purchase
options for our client’s, however we also offer a Total Service package
that has no capital purchase at all. Our Total Service package provides
our client’s with a complete turnkey data management system complete
with all necessary hardware, software and support. The Total Service
package can include:
- All
Hardware
- All
Software
- Operator/Supervisor
training
- Monthly
remote system checks
- Quarterly
on-site maintenance checks
- Remote
Data Backup
- Data
Validation
- Compliance
Report Generation
And NO capital expense, just a monthly
service charge.
Because of the ever changing demands of regulatory
compliance and the need for experienced regulatory and operational
personnel to maintain and trouble-shoot problems on critical systems,
B3 Systems has developed the Total Service package. Our trained staff
of professionals has extensive experience in the areas of environmental
regulatory compliance, process operations, process control, network
administration and data management. We can provide a comparative
proposal for any new or existing requirements.
The Total Service Package provides the maximum
support with no capital expenditure.
If you have questions or just want to know more,
please contact Robert Baxter at 919.790.9090 or robert@b3systems.com. Please
include information concerning your present control system (PLC or DCS)
as well as some general information regarding the number of data points
your facility needs to meet compliance.
In recent years EPA has been implementing industry
specific MACT rules. B3 Systems has been providing systems to medical
waste incinerators (MWI) to allow them to meet their compliance
requirements, both Federal and State. The Federal Regulations requires the
recording of numerous process parameters and all waste charges.
Our system utilizes an Allen Bradley PLC as the
central CPU to monitor all process parameters and calculate the minute
averages as well as other discrete operations (ram position, bypass
stack closed, etc). An
operator interface is provided to allow direct input of each waste
charge (date, time, gross weight, tare weight and waste type).
A TOGA GladiatorÔ
constantly monitors the PLC. The Gladiator utilizes Patent Pending
technology within a Unix operating system combined with a powerful SQL
database to maintain long-term data storage on a real-time basis. The
Gladiator also utilizes an Apache Web Server to serve up ‘live’
information, historical charts and reports through the facility’s
in-house network via custom designed HTML pages. The Gladiator utilizes
non-proprietary software (HTML, JavaScript and php) to provide
information to authorized users. The system is provided with another
local PC to provide a redundant copy of the data and a workstation for
local report and worksheet generation.
B3 Systems provides complete installation,
commissioning and training for each system. Additional hardware,
software and services can be added to provide custom solutions for each
facility. B3 Systems can provide upgrades or additional for any
equipment necessary to meet the MACT. This may include sensors for
pressure, temperature or flow. Although the Federal regulations do not
require continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS), some states do.
B3 Systems can provide a fully integrated CEMS system as part of the
overall design.
Many of the recent MACT rules also require baghouse
leak detector monitoring. B3 Systems has developed a complete MACT
solution to help our client's meet their compliance requirements. The
Federal Regulations requires the recording of alarms, calibration and
events. Our system provides a complete solution based on PCME's line of sensors.
The system utilizes a central controller (CC) to
collect data from the sensors as well as key process data. Besides
monitoring, components may be added to upgrade the baghouse control,
thus providing a higher level on control than simple timer cards. This
also puts the entire baghouse operation within the same controller
network.
For long-term data collection and reporting, a TOGA
GladiatorÔ constantly monitors the
CC. The Gladiator utilizes Patent Pending technology within a Unix
operating system combined with a powerful SQL database to maintain
long-term data storage on a real-time basis. The Gladiator also
utilizes an Apache Web Server to serve up ‘live’ information,
historical charts and reports through the facility’s in-house network
via custom designed HTML pages. The Gladiator utilizes non-proprietary
software (HTML, JavaScript and php) to provide information to
authorized users. The system is provided with another local PC to
provide a redundant copy of the data and a workstation for local report
and worksheet generation.
B3 Systems provides complete installation,
commissioning and training for each system. Additional hardware,
software and services can be added to provide custom solutions for each
facility. B3 Systems can provide upgrades or additional for any
equipment necessary to meet the MACT. This may include sensors for
pressure, temperature or flow as require or as requested.
